Kayak Mount Installation & Usage Guide
Video Installation Guide
Follow our step-by-step video guide to install and use the MULTY® kayak mounts to carry kayaks or paddle boards. This product does require a MULTY® ladder rack system to be installed on your vehicle.
Step 1: Prepare your MULTY® ladder rack system
Remove any end caps or plugs from your headache rack and rear rack uprights. Insert two spring nuts (per kayak) into the rear ladder rack crossbar extrusion with the spring facing down. Make sure the spring nuts are installed in the top-facing slot of the extrusion. Repeat this step for the headache rack crossbar extrusion. Re-install the end caps you removed earlier.
Step 2: Install the kayak brackets
On the rear rack, place the kayak bracket where you want to install it, and in the direction you want it to face. Secure the kayak bracket to the t-slot nuts using 2x short 5/16″ bolts and washers.
Repeat this step for the front kayak mount on the headache rack crossbar. Ensure the kayak brackets are both parallel with each other and facing the same direction.
Firmly secure the kayak brackets to the rear ladder rack and front headache rack using a 1/2″ wrench.
Step 3: Mounting your kayak or paddleboard
Place your kayak in the newly installed kayak brackets as shown in the video.
Use 1x cam-buckle strap to secure the rear of the kayak by wrapping the strap around the kayak and underneath the kayak bracket. Pull to tighten.
Use the other cam-buckle strap to secure the front of the kayak in the same way. Pull the strap firmly to tighten.
Return to the back of the rack to re-tighten the cam-buckle strap.
Use a pair of scissors to trim any excess material on the cam-buckle strap.
